Avengers Age of Ultron Review

 Avengers Age of Ultron

 Author: frymypants

The main issue with this film is certainly the pacing, its condensed story structure leaves very little time to really absorb each character, there are too many subplots running throughout the film.

Iron Man's self destructive trend, Scarlett Witch's and Quicksilver's character arcs, Ultron's justification for the end of the world, Vision's choice to be for humanity, Hulk and Black Widow's romance and their own feelings about their place in the world, Hawkeye's background, minor characters making cameo arcs and with that comes at least an hour of fight sequences (ala Man of Steel influence). Excess would be the sin of this film and lack of moments of self reflection effects the film in a non positive manner.

Problems begin with starting with a big fight sequence that takes you completely out of the characterisation and puts them in an objectified position, it should have really slowly reintroduced to you to the world instead of heading in.

The problems continues with Aaron Taylor-Johanson's Russian accent which was just off putting for some reason and his limited time for characterisation did not leave you weeping for like Coulson.

Ultron's flawed design and Metallic lip movements seemed unnecessary for a robot and expensive and also he wasn't as interesting a Loki. The amount of robots brought back unwanted nostalgia for the climaxes of Iron Man 2 and 3. This after all not a Transformers franchise!! Vision in my opinion was fine, he looked good to me, and his connection to Scarlett Witch was watchable.

However Thor was completely underused and just knowing where to put the infinity stone at that specific moment in time is a moment that cannot suspend disbelief.

The jokes mainly felt, due to pacing issues and tonal difference, kinda like bad throwaway one liners though some of the landed appropriately however what I did need fleshed out was Black Widow's hide the zucchini talent, that would have been very entertaining.

The choreography for the fight scenes were ambitious and watched by themselves is an excellent example of superhero team fight, but in this film often messy in relation to its story structure. Captain America's fight sequences being fundamentally my favourite.

What this film can't compare to it's predecessor, organic moments of characterisation and visual comedy. The first team-up, the battle for New York, "Always being Angry", the big "Owie", "Hulk vs Thor", "Hulk saving Iron Man"", "having red in your ledger" and "mewling quim". The lack of memorability for me at least is what causes the root of my disappointment in this film.

That's why I cannot give it a 7.0, Whedon can do better he's an organic writer who got caught up in an overly ambitious plan to tell an entire season of Buffy in 2.20 hrs. Stripping it down, even building up the flash backs from the very beginning to the last one where Scarlett Witch attached to Tony would have worked better, even at a sense of mystery why the flashbacks occurred to create that tension and maybe push it more toward they Arne't fears actual vision of what can occur would be thematically more interesting.

Final verdict 6.8/10

Ugly Hindi Movie Review

Ugly is undoubtedly the best crime thriller film of this year.It is the story of Rahul,an aspiring actor whose daughter gets kidnapped.Shoumik,a rigid police officer comes to investigate the case as he has married Kali's mother after her divorce with Rahul. After the kidnapping a dirty game starts to unfold in which humanity is kept on hold.Where is Kali and who has kidnapped her are some of the questions which forms the rest of the story.

The script is very tight and its execution is excellent.Once you get submerged in the movie then you don't even bother to blink. The movie tales a twisted story in which every character has a grey shade. No one cares for the subjugation of a person due to their greed. This is a powerful story of temptation, greed, hate, desire and helplessness. The climax of the movie makes you uneasy. It contains a killer twist. It portrays the harsh but true reality of our society. The main plus point of the film is that you can't think what will happen next.It is not an over the top thriller film where everything happens to easily for the hero.

The star cast of the film is a main plus point.Ronit roy is excellent. He portrays the role of a rigid police officer in a dynamic manner.Rahul bhat is very good.Surveen chawla is also good.Every cast member is perfect in their respective roles.Dialogs are good but are adultery.

Anurag kashyap is known to make true cinema and this one is no exception. His direction is flawless. It is an another masterpiece of his career.

If you are a lover of true cinema then it is a must watch for you.A great crime saga which contains a killer twist in the end.A great cinematic experience..... 8.2 out of 10 is my rating.

BABY Hindi movie Review

Though I don't categorize movies on the basis of their region or country, I had mentioned this title regarding India being proud of this movie. This is because I have heard people yelling in social media and in public about the low standards of Indian movies specially thrillers which either lack thrill or are copied from Hollywood. I agree to them o most occasions but this one. And I would strongly recommend people who complain about the lack of good movies in Bollywood to go and watch it. Or else stop complaining these craps.

Coming on to the movie, it describes the biggest agenda world is facing right now, i.e, Terrorism, in best way it could. The story comprises of many small incidents which are bound together so slickly that we feel the smooth flow of script. We are lost in the hustle going on in front of us and are keen to know what is coming next. First half makes the plot for the movie and the second half unleashes the execution. Each and every scenes complements its predecessor and we are biting our nails without even noticing it. Last hour is full of thrilling actions and grueling proceedings.

Talking about the acting , I must say Akshay Kumar has delivered a role of his life very convincingly. He lives his character and puts that extra amount of thrill via his superb action. Danny plays his role quite brilliantly. Anupam, Tapsee, Kay Kay and other supporting casts act life to their characters and make this movie a combo of power packed performances.

Director Neeraj Pandey has already made a Wednesday and Sp 26 in past and thats why there was a very little scope for improvement for him. But I would be lying if i don't say that this is a notch higher that his earlier masterpieces. Editing is quite crisp. Screenplay is the soul of this movie while BM is equally engaging. Cinematography is grand and deserve applause. Dialogues are apt and support the movie a lot. Music is average and rightly so. Choreography is nil while action is breathtaking.

It has a few flaws here and there in a few scenes but those are hardly noticed due to the fast paced drama and screenplay.

Overall, a standing ovation for Neeraj and Akshay to give us Indians a movie to feel proud of. It can easily go into books as one of the best Hindi movies.A movie of Hollywood standard and execution.

I (Ai) Tamil movie Review

Prior to the release, the movie had immaculate hype for an "international quality" story line. Both from the director and the lead actor.

Vikram quoted this as his dream role and the best one he has done yet. The actor has put a lot of effort into the role, with not only the body transformations, but also with the incredible acting. But the real question is, was the story worth it? To me it's a NO!

Pithamagan, Sethu and Anniyan still stay to be the best of Vikram.

The story is something any 10 year old could guess.

STORY: A body builder and gym owner (Vikram) meets his crush, a TV model on a shooting set. Through a series of events Vikram is made to be a model by Amy. They eventually get into a relationship and become top models. Leading to jealousy and animosity, among the villains. There after it is a usual revenge story. Bad guy loses - good guy wins.

The movie has a lot of plot holes or should i say, factual errors. Mostly on the revenge methods.

MUSIC: AR Rahman fails in this one with his poor background score. No songs in the movie gets the fans dancing. But ARR saves his name with "Ennodu Nee Irundhaal" song, which is absolutely breath taking.

Cinematography: PC Shriram, nothing more to be said. The visuals from China are more than enough to show what the man is capable of. Brilliant.

Make UP & Art: Absolutely brilliant. 10/10.

In an interview Shankar, describes himself as "never disappoints". Sorry sir, but after watching films like Anniyan and Mudhalvan, you certainly did disappoint us.

The movie "I" is technically brilliant, but intellectually stupid.
